Description
The Garden Theater in downtown Frankfort is pleased to announce a screening of the award-winning film Screenagers.
The Garden Theater, working in collaboration with Frankfort Elberta Area Schools and the Panther Parents organization, will show Screenagers free of charge on Sunday, February 12 at 2pm.
Screenagers examines the impact of the digital age on children and how to help families minimize harmful effects while finding balance with the ever changing technological world. Directed by Delaney Ruston, MD, the film probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including the director’s own, and depicts the messy struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through surprising insights from authors and brain scientists, solutions emerge on how we can empower kids to best navigate the digital world.
Following the film, Benzie County resident and Information Technology Executive Susan Swanson will lead an audience discussion focused on the content of the movie as a catalyst for continued conversation and commitment towards better use of digital devices. Ms. Swanson will also spearhead follow-up meetings for those interested in an ongoing dialogue on the topic. The subject matter and structure of the film make it ideal for children, parents and grandparents to attend the movie together.
The Garden Theater will provide free popcorn to encourage attendance for this important event.
