Join your friends and family at the Annual Shiver by the River winter event in Frankfort and Elberta!
We have plenty of family-oriented activities scheduled; including a NEW, fun Bridge "Run", a Tug of War Contest and a new Beer & Food Area.
The event begins with the popular Betsie Bay Frozen 5K at 10am. To register go to https://events.bytepro.net/betsie-bay.
At 11am gather downtown for the wintry Shiver by the River Parade. Kids - decorate your sled and join the fun.
Immediately following the parade: Kid's games and activities including the Ski Ball Toss, Frozen Bowling, a new Tug of War Contest, Kid's Snow World featuring a sledding hill, Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides and more will be set up at the Mineral Springs Park.
In Elberta, you can enjoy a warming fire under the pavilion and sledding from 11am - 4pm.
New this year will be a Beer and Food Area at the Chamber Office! Featuring Stormcloud Beer, domestic beer, local wines, and St. Ambrose Cellars Mead and local food items.
Weather permitting, we will have Helicopter Rides departing from the Boat Launch parking lot.
Did you ever want to go REAL bowling on Main Street in Frankfort? Meet us in front of the City of Frankfort City Hall at noon for your chance to knock down some actual bowling pins.
Children's Story Hour(s) at Hotel Frankfort from noon until 2pm. Have the kids come in and warm up in front of the fireplace at the hotel and hear wonderful stories!!
Also starting at noon, the U.S. Coast Guard will be demonstrating an "Ice Rescue" on Betsie Bay (near the Library at 7th street) along with the Benzie County Sheriff's Department "Ice Boat" demonstrations. Witness how our local guardians of the water save lives during the winter months.
Warming stations will be available at Frankfort City Hall, the Frankfort-Elberta Area Chamber of Commerce and Anet & Ollie's Dime Store. Warming stations will be offering kid's activities, hot cocoa and restrooms. Each place will offer something a little different to accommodate the children and adults interests. This year, the Chamber Office will feature Food and Beer and Wine for purchase to help fund the festival.
Also new this year will be Curling demos and Fat Tire Bike demos at Stormcloud Brewing Co.
At 2:00 pm, head to the Frankfort Garden Theater and warm up to watch a FREE movie.
After all of that FUN - join us for our brand new Bridge Run at the Bridge between Frankfort and Elberta. Come see if you can beat everyone across that bridge for fun prizes! Dress up for fun if you like - bring your pet and dress them up - Bring a sled or wagon or skis or whatever you think will help you get across that BRIDGE the fastest! Free Benzie Bus Shuttles will take participants to the bridge for their participation and bring them back. Each participant will receive a FREE old Chamber event t-shirt! Entry fee is $5 and will benefit the new Aquaponics Greenhouse at Frankfort High School. A Bridge Run After Party will be held at the Mayfair Tavern on the back deck directly after the race!

Regular office hours are Tuesday through Friday 9am to 3pm. Please be sure to wear winter-weather appropriate clothing and outerwear as the majority of the Shiver by the River activities are held outside.
