Enjoy back-to-back film screenings of Jordan Peele’s Get Out and Us. Following the first film screening, Get Out, award-winning author and UCLA professor Tananarive Due will present “The Sunken Place” where she will discuss the history of Black Horror and explore themes covered in Get Out. *The DSO does not appear on this program. This event is FREE and open to the public, but a no-cost ticket is required for entry. Get Out - 6pm The award winning thriller Get Out is the story of a young African-American man who visits his white girlfriend’s family estate and uncovers a disturbing secret. (104 minutes) Talk by Tananarive Due - 8pm Tananarive Due is an executive producer on Shudder's groundbreaking documentary Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror. She recently wrote the introduction for a published version of Jordan Peele's Get Out. Us - 10pm Us is a gripping, socially conscious horror film directed by Jordan Peele. Starring Lupita Nyong’o, the film tells the story of a family who arrives at their summer home and is attacked by a group of menacing doppelgangers. (116 minutes)
